Daddy Lumba started his music career in the mid teens from the ages of 16 and 17. Between 1983 to 1984 academic year, Daddy Lumba represented his secondary school, Juaben Senior High as a choir leader when Madam Christabel was his music teacher.
After 1985 he graduated from high school to pursue his career as a full time musician.
During his days in secondary school he formed the lumba brothers which comprises of his friends Yaw and Kwabena including his girlfriend, Theresa Abebrese.
Theresa later helped Lumba to travel outside Ghana to seek greener pastures overseas where he met legendary highlife artist Ernest Nana Acheampong in Germany.
Nana Acheampong was already entitled to a music duo group he tagged “Talking dream” which he formed with a Whiteman
Daddy Lumba started his career as a gospel musician but after meeting Nana Acheampong in Germany, Lumba was introduced to highlife music. In most of Lumba interviews, he always credits Nana for leading him to highlife music.
