The Narcotics Control Commission of Ghana (NaCoC) in shock after discovering over 80 acres of Marijuara (Wee) in a community in Volta Region.
Around 7 a.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2022, a team of 70 officials from NACOC, Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), National Investigation Bureau (NIB), and Hohoe Divisional Police Command assaulted the plantation to destroy it.
Security officers uncovered the farm on February 1st, and the suspects were apprehended. On Thursday morning, they returned to the farm with the purpose of destroying it.
The vast cannabis fields strewn across the woodland are said to be owned by a variety of people who have planted maize to serve as a border between their farms.
Irrigation lines were deliberately built from a nearby creek to the farms to irrigate the cannabis, allowing them to produce throughout the year independent of rain patterns.
In order to increase productivity, they have also connected electric power to the farmlands.
In outbuildings that serve as farmer rest stations, the team also located several water pumping apparatus, two motorcycles, and a tractor.
