Joan Murray story behind the fall
A Bank of America executive named Joan Murray resided in Charlotte, North Carolina. She adored her family, her work, and her brand-new skydiving hobby.
Joan had spent several hours practicing skydiving, and as of this point, she had made 35 jumps. She wasn’t precisely an expert, but she was also not a newbie.
On September 25, 1999, Joan got up, drove the hour to Chester County, South Carolina, and excitedly got ready.
As the aircraft lifted off and climbed into the sky, Joan felt her enthusiasm intensify. Joan waited for the all-clear as they ascended to the proper altitude, and then she rocked herself out of the aircraft.
As she admired the scenery, she reveled in the fall and the sensation of the wind rubbing across her body.

Her freefall lasted around 45 seconds before she reached out and pulled her hackey (the small bar that deploys the parachute).
She anticipated that the chute would slowly open, slowing her fall and letting her coast to the earth in safety. Instead, nothing took place.
