Kanye West has been placed on Instagram timeout after attacking his ex wife Kim, Pete, Pete’s writing partner, and Trevor Noah with a racist remark.
According to a spokeswoman for Meta previously Facebook, which owns Instagram, Kanye West broke the company’s hate speech, bullying, and harassment regulations.
If Kanye West continues to offend in the future, more action could be taken against him, according to Meta, which did not reveal the details of the post by Kanye.
West’s representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment from CNBC.
Variety reported on Wednesday that Kanye West used racial insults towards Trevor Noah, host of “The Daily Show,” in an Instagram post that has since been deleted.
Noah allegedly used the claimed insult after discussing a fight between West. Kanye’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian, and her boyfriend, “Saturday Night Live” comic Pete Davidson.
Kardashian announced her divorce from West a year ago, citing irreconcilable differences. Together, the couple has four children.
Following the divorce, West took to social media to publicly condemn Kardashian’s relationship with Davidson and requested her to return to him.
When CNBC asked Meta when the suspension went into force and when it would be lifted, he didn’t immediately comment.
