Andy King and Chaia King, two of Larry King’s children, passed away just weeks apart, and Larry King is mourning their passing.
The 86-year-old veteran television personality announced both deaths at the same time on Saturday night. While Chaia, 51, ” died on August 20 only a short time after having been diagnosed with lung cancer,” Andy, 65, “passed abruptly on July 28 after a heart attack in 2020.”
“I confirm the recent passing of two of my children, Andy King and Chaia King, with sadness and a father’s broken heart,” he wrote. They both had excellent hearts, and their loss will be felt deeply.
Two of King’s five children, Andy and Chaia, were born to former Playboy bunny Alene Akins, who passed away in 2017. When King and Akins were married in 1961, they took in Andy, Akins’ son (the TV host has been married eight times to seven women). They later got remarried, and had Chaia.
Larry King Children
Larry King has five children: Chance, 21, and Cannon, 20, with ex wife Shawn King, Larry Jr. Andy & Chaia King also with different women. He filed for divorce with Shawn in 2019 after 22 years of marriage. He shares his son Larry Jr. 58, with Annette Kaye.
In 1997, Larry and Chaia collaborated on the book “Daddy Day, Daughter Day.” In the children’s book about King’s second divorce from Akins, the two were frank and shared their thoughts on how spending time together might lessen the sorrow of a divorce.
In his statement on Saturday, King wrote;
“Losing them feels so out of order. “Nobody ought to have to bury their child. We at my family and I appreciate all of your warm words and best wishes. We need some space and privacy right now to heal. I appreciate your appreciation for that.”
