Carmen Monarcha is a Brazilian soprano who was born on August 27, 1979 in Belém, Pará. Her father is a writer, and her mother, Marina Monarcha, is a well-known Brazilian singer. She was born into an artistic family in northern Brazil.
She began playing the cello and piano at an early age and studied to become a concert cellist. In Brazil, though, she began to hone her singing voice and began taking lessons.
Carla Maffioletti, a fellow Brazilian singer, became acquainted with her during her musical career. She and Maffioletti travelled to Maastricht, the Netherlands, for further vocal instruction after finishing school.
Monarcha was hired as a vocalist by André Rieu, the conductor of the Johann Strauss Orchestra, to tour Europe and the United States.
